Milo's Autumn Taste Test: Pumpkin, Cranberry and a Pumpkin Spiced Latte

Autumn has arrived in our house, and with it a pumpkin on every surface. So Milo got a seasonal taste test of his own: three autumn flavours of Soopa Healthy Bites.

The three flavours

  • Pumpkin Spiced Latte: pumpkin, cinnamon and coconut milk. There's no coffee in it; the latte is in the name only.
  • Carrot & Pumpkin: dried carrot, pumpkin and pumpkin seed, with a pinch of turmeric.
  • Cranberry & Sweet Potato: dried cranberry, sweet potato and flaxseed.

Why we chose them

Milo has a wheat intolerance, so we read every label. All three flavours are grain-free and made with potato flour, tapioca and chickpea flour instead. We checked all three packs and each treat works out at 3 kcal, so they're easy to fit into his day.

The taste test

I put one of each flavour out in a row, and Milo ate them straight down the line. So I shuffled them and tried again, and he just ate whichever one he reached first. He didn't refuse any of them or go back for one in particular.

Our official verdict: Milo has no preference on flavour. As far as he's concerned, they're all treats.

How they went down

They're tiny, so they work well as training treats or as a pocketful for walks. Most importantly for us, Milo's been absolutely fine with them, with no tummy issues at all.

The verdict: 4 out of 5 paws

★★★★☆ 4/5

Three autumn flavours, one very fair judge and no tummy trouble. We'd have given them full marks, but the packets aren't resealable. Once they're open, you'll need a clip or a jar to keep the treats fresh, and to keep them away from a certain nose. It's the same gripe we had with Soopa's dental sticks.

What we liked

  • Grain-free, so no wheat for Milo
  • No tummy issues at all
  • Tiny and 3 kcal each, good for training
  • All three flavours went down equally well

What we didn't

  • Packets aren't resealable

If your dog needs wheat-free treats, these are well worth a look. Milo would like it known that he's available to repeat the test at any time.
